At Woodlands the client was looking to extend their property to gain a larger kitchen/living space with access onto the garden.

The client was keen to get as much natural light into the new space whilst still keeping adequate wall space for kitchen and storage units.

By relocating the front door to face the street pushing it out from the side elevation the approach to the house is much clearer. 

 

The entrance space is lit from the roof light above and you are drawn into the kitchen, passing two slot windows either side of the coat rack and bench, by the window on the opposite side of the house.  A further roof light in the kitchen space and sliding door brings more light into what is now the principle social of the house.
